Hotel Gazipasa Star - Side Operator and Date: Sunquest,[First Choice] -June 2004 Opinion submitted in June 2004 by : Paddy Hartley-Southport [69, 45] Resort Rating: Very Good Accommodation Rating: Very Good My/Our Holiday Opinion: We went to Side on a late deal, knowing nothing about the place or the hotel, so we were a little apprehensive before we arrived. We had nothing to worry about! The hotel "Star", although quite basic, was very comfortable and carefully maintained and the staff went out of the way to make us feel welcome and cared for. The breakfasts became a bit monotonous but that didn't bother us at all as there is so much more going for the place. Side is a town of contrasts. In 2 strides you step from the 21st century into the 2nd century B.C. It's an amateur archaeologist's dream! The beaches are long and sandy, well provided with sunbeds and parasols [for approx. £2.40 for 2 for the day] and waiter service from the bar. We loved shopping in the bustling town and although we had plenty of traders trying to sell us everything fron carpets to fake designer goods, we were never hassled or made to feel uncomfortable. We would recommend the trips to Aspendos and Perge for the historically minded, a boat trip for those who like looking for dolphins and swimming in the turquoise waves, white-water-rafting for the adventurous and a visit to the water falls for everybody. We found the money a little difficult at first but I don't think anyone took advantage of our ignorance....and for large purchases they are happy to accept Euros or Sterling. We loved Turkey and its friendly and courteous people. We thought Side was delightful and we shall certainly return.....hopefully, very soon | |||
